Our Values

Stronger together
Facing the challenge of the climate and ecological crisis can feel overwhelming and as an individual we question ‘Can I really make any difference?’ When we face this challenge together we know we CAN make a real difference. We are stronger together!
Regenerative
As a human race we know we are living unsustainably. How can we sustain something that currently isn't sustainable? We can do better and work on being regenerative. This starts with looking after ourselves and each other. Burnout is common amongst volunteers so we need to pace ourselves by looking after our mental and physical wellbeing
Open
We’re reflective and open to change, responding to criticism with a growth mindset and always learning and willing to adapt.
We’re experimental, we don’t do things because they’ve always been done that way. We’re willing to challenge and be challenged in order to progress.
To work effectively and efficiently we can’t promise to consult everyone about every decision. But we’ll always be transparent about the decisions we make.
Fun!
Working hard to influence local behavior and policy change can be hard going. That’s why we always try to have fun in the process! When we enjoy each other's company then we look forward to working together.
We are focused on what works
We appreciate and value the limited time capacity we all have as volunteers at Planet Purbeck therefore we use our time effectively and efficiently by focusing on what works and will make a real difference.

Any plans for the weekend? We have another volunteer hedge-laying opportunity to share 💚

🌿Join forces with volunteers from Worth Planet Action & St Nicholas Ecochurch group in Worth Matravers, Sat 22nd Jan.

🦉Why hedge-laying? Hedges are valued for the HUGE benefits they bring to wildlife. A mature hedge can provide shelter and a safe habitat for many species including shews, voles, doormice, toads, birds and insects.

▶️Please RSVP to kathy.hollidge@gmail.com if youd like to join

Rachel spent her childhood in Corfe, but after years living away, she knew she needed to get back to Purbeck. Its open space, countryside and sea make her feel part of not just a community, but of a place. It’s massive, she says, in terms of how important it is to her. Nature gives her a solid sense of belonging. Every moment outside is a chance to watch, observe and become more attentive. She never feels separate from the landscape but connected to it. Caring for the world around her is the same as looking after herself, her family, and her friends.

💐#Pollinators are vital to life on earth as we know it, without them, we wouldnt have items like potatoes, strawberries or coffee! But, pollinators are currently in real decline.

🐝 #WorthPlanetAction are looking for volunteers to help prepare their #BeeBank.

🍯You would help cut an area of long grass and prepare their Bee Bank for additional planting and seeding to provide plenty of pollen and nectar for bees and other insects!

📆Friday 28th January - 10am to 12pm at St Nicholas Churchyard.

💌If your interest, please RSVP to Kathy Hollidge at kathy.hollidge@gmail.com
