Events: 'Slow the Flow' project

Planet Purbeck is looking for a crack team of ‘Planeteers’ [volunteers!] to help ‘Slow the Flow’ on Sat Dec 11th.

As part of the National Trust's Slow the Flow project, we would like to offer our support to build dams out of willow on two of the streams on East Common in Corfe Castle. These dams will help to hold back and slow down the flow of water, in order to reduce the risk of flooding downstream. The dams have the added advantage of improving the habitat for rare species such as the Southern Damselfly.

This is another wonderful opportunity to get out and do something practical… think of it as your Christmas gift to the local environment… So, come and join Planet Purbeck in Corfe Castle to help ‘Slow the Flow’ on Sat Dec 11th, 10 am - 2 pm.

Can you help?: Get in touch via lukemluke@gmail.com for joining instructions or visit the National Trust page to find out about other conservation work in the area.

Additionally, you can see our latest Newsletter here, it's packed full of volunteer opportunities and resources to help you have a greener Christmas.
