Events: 'Slow the Flow' Project

Sat 29th Oct & Sat 12th Nov 2022

Calling all eager beavers!

We need volunteers to get well and truly stuck in to this 'muddy hands, happy faces' project.

Learn how to build leaky dams out of willow faggots & stakes on the streams of Corfe Castle's Little East Common.

We will be working with the National Trust to build these dams as part of their Slow the Flow project.

The dams are designed to help to hold back & slow the flow of water, in order to reduce the risk of flooding downstream & have the added advantage of improving the habitat for several species such as the Southern Damselfly.

In previous dam builds, the team has taken huge pride in their group efforts & have even got a little competitive!

Join us at 10:30am - 2:30pm (latest)
