Just another day, just another 20m Sand Lizard scaling the castle…!
But there’s no need to run for your lives - it’s just chilling on one of Purbeck’s most iconic landmarks as part of the Planet Purbeck Festival.
Think of it as a symbol beaming out awareness about these shy, diminutive native lizards that are mostly unseen & even unknown to some people. We hope to inspire you to discover more about the species & their local habitat.
Huge credit goes to talented local artist Eilidh Middleton (pronounced ‘A-Lee’ btw!) for this epic free art installation for everyone. Thanks Eilidh!
ARC Trust played a significant part in the creation of #purbecksandlizard inc. staff & volunteer time, materials & species detail.
Planet Purbeck really stuck our neck out to make this happen. It took lots of time, effort & a fair bit of climbing to pull this off, so we’re super proud to share it with you all.
