Enjoy this audio walk / song cycle by composer Laura Reid.

Featuring words by writers who responded to the poem ‘Hope’ is the thing with Feathers by Emily Dickinson.

You’ll hear a variety of songs and soundscapes featuring voice, piano and electronically manipulated strings and field recordings. Listen on a mobile phone using GPS location software that can be downloaded in advance of your visit (link coming soon).

Themes include sustenance, life cycles and renewal – but ultimately our universal need as humans to find hope in challenging times.

Featuring soprano Gweneth Ann Rand and piano by Allyson Devenish.

The commissioned writers have all responded to the poem is a variety of ways ranging from optimistic responses, recalling images of nature, to stark realities of sustaining hope in challenging circumstances. Each has a unique perspective.

The featured writers are: Oge NwosuTheresa Howard, Katie Columbus and Ahed Al Hamwi who was born in Syria and is now based in the South West and works as a translator.
