Planet Purbeck has grown so quickly we need new team members in the following areas to help share the workload: Festival & Events, Media, Legal & Finance, Fundraising, Campaigns plus NEW Youth Leader Roles. We have tasks and roles to suit people who only have a couple of hours a week to spare through to those who can dedicate a lot more. All positions are voluntary roles.


Festival & Events Team

Would like to help make the Planet Purbeck Festival happen?
Come and join our talented team of Doug (retired events organiser & Greenpeace speaker) and Julia (National Trust engagement officer). They welcome people who have existing skills/experience and those looking to learn new skills/gain hands-on experience.

Festival Support Managers
You will be looking after a small group of Festival Supporters
Being their main point of contact, so chatting to them about the Festival, coming up with ideas for events, answering questions, essentially getting them to the stage to submit the Booking Form.
Once they have submitted the booking form you'll be the main point of contact between the Media Team and Festival Supporters,  ensuring the media team have all the details they need to create eye-catching promotional material featuring our supporters in the lead up to the event.

Would suit someone who is friendly and organised as this role will involve building relationships with Festival Supporters and being a conduit between them and the Planet Purbeck Media team. Full training and support will be provided.

Media Team


Join our talented and experienced team.  
Heidi (previously worked at Global Marketing Agency) Chris (retired national newspaper journalist) Dean (graphic designer and website manager) and Shannon (graphic designer and website creator).  They welcome people who have existing skills/experience and those looking to learn new skills/gain hands-on experience.

Media Team: Asst Newsletter Creator
We have a database of over 700 email subscribers who we communicate with by email to promote events and we send out a quarterly newsletter. There are two elements to this role that could be completed by 1 or 2 people.  
1. We're looking for someone who would like to be trained on how to use Mailchimp to help us continue sending professionally styled emails out to our database.
2. And/Or someone who could collate and edit email content before it's passed onto the person who will construct the email in Mailchimp before it's sent out to our database.
Would suit someone who has previous experience of using mailchimp or would like to learn! And/or someone who enjoys editing and paraphrasing written copy.  Full training and ongoing support available 

Media Team: Inbox Manager
The media team is central to everything that happens at Planet Purbeck. We need someone to help check the media team inbox on a daily basis (Mon-Fri) and assign requests that need to be actioned to the appropriate team members. The inbox manager also has the responsibility for adding contact details of our new members and new mailing list subscribers to the applicable mailing list on a weekly basis.
We use Gmail, but don't worry if you're not already familiar as we will provide training. All that's required is 15 mins of your time per day to check the inbox.

Journalist
Local people need to tell their story about what they're doing to help our environment and we need a roaming reporter to interview these people and write up their story. The outcome can be web, print, video or audio. We want to reach everybody through a variety of mediums and have other professionals on board to help you.

Copy Writer
We will have many organisations and businesses signed up to this year's festival and we need someone to profile these local businesses and organisations, to tell us what they are doing and why we would want to support them.
Would suit someone who enjoys writing and is comfortable when it comes to editing and paraphrasing to create snappy and catchy written copy.  Additional support & training available  


Designer
Demand for good design work is very important for us this year as we launch the first-ever Planet Purbeck Festival, we want some with good graphic design skills to help the media team with flags, banners and posters for the event.
Some experience and training necessary in Adobe Creative Suite (or your own design programme of preference). Additional support & training available.

Researcher
We need a person to put together relevant social media and web posts to explain in a way that everybody understands, important topics such as the benefits of seagrass and peatlands, visitor trends over time in Purbeck and what people come to visit, and how government policy is affecting our area and want we can do about it.
Would suit someone who is keeping up to date with environmental news and would be happy to distil that information into short sharp paragraphs for social media. Full training is given on using our social media scheduling tools. 

Asst Website Manager
Share responsibility with another member of the team to upload new content onto the website, format new pages and swap banner images and content around when updates are required.

Fundraising Team:


Join Tom our experienced grant writer and his team and help fundraise the finance to help support Planet Purbeck's campaigns and projects. Ideally, he is looking for a co-coordinator.

Legal & Finance Team:


Join our experienced and professional team. Steve (retired corporate lawyer) and Greg (retired chartered accountant) are looking for help and support in the legal and financial aspects of running a Community Interest Company. Steve would welcome people with a legal background and particularly anybody with skills/experience in company secretarial work, data protection, contract drafting and review, and/or regulatory matters.

Campaigns Team

Do you feel passionately about waste and litter reduction, improved reuse, repair and recycling of products and a circular economy? 

Opportunities include directly responding to government initiatives, helping to shape Planet Purbecks response to consultations and helping to organise and take part in practical events. In particular, if there is anyone with experience in the construction sector, or in the design, manufacture or retailing of textiles (clothing)furniture, electrical and electronic products or road vehicles; we need you! Also if there is any social scientists with interest or expertise in promoting positive behavioural changes; we need you too"

Youth Group Leaders

We are looking for TWO Planet Purbeck Youth Leaders. Your role will be to work in a team to amplify the voice of young people in Purbeck. You will coordinate and lead the youth group. You will also be mentored by experienced youth leaders. 

Tasks include:

  • Build and lead the Planet Purbeck Youth Group
  • Devise and deliver a youth-led event at the Planet Purbeck festival (21st - 26th      September 2021)
  • Gather ideas and contribute to campaigns already running through Planet Purbeck 
  • Work with partner organisations to fundraise for the event, covering the costs of it and contributing to marketing and publicity

You will receive:

  • Mentoring from experienced youth leaders 
  • Experience event planning, marketing and youth work 
  • Insights into partnership work with The National Trust, Wild Purbeck, Dorset Wellbeing, Leeson House and more
  • Reference and help with your CV
  • Opportunity to meet passionate and experienced locals and professionals 
  • Enhanced DBS check with a Status Update 
  • Improved skills, confidence and unique work experience 

We are looking for people who:

  • Are reliable and committed
  • Team player and able to work independently 
  • Can ask for support and advice when needed 
  • Are interested in youth work, issues affecting young people, nature, wildlife, events and marketing 
  • Have a good sense of humor!
